What is Postini for Exchange Servers?

Postini works by routing your incoming email to our filtering centers. We do this by becoming the MX (Mail exchange) record for your domain. This simple change can be done by your Network Administrator or ISP and directs email addressed to your domain to Postini first. Seconds later, your email arrives presorted.

Postini does not work with email using an ISP domain such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Earthlink or AOL. We provide service only at the domain level such as company.com or nonprofit.org. Please read our compatibility white paper for a detailed explanation.

Your Exchange Mail clients can have their mail boxes protected with Postini Virus and Spam Filtering service. You get the same quality of protection for all your e-mail address. It doesn't matter if you only have a few addresses or hundreds of e-mail addresses. Each address has its own Postini Message Center.

Spam is a common threat to any business that has a web presence. The extra time it take for each employee to read and delete spam messages takes time. Time is money, as we all know. Having Postini protecting your e-mail box is just an easy way to increase productivity.

The Postini Virus and Spam filtering server will scan every e-mail received for the protected e-mail address and quarantine any messages that contain viruses into your own private message center. All messages are also scanned for spam content as well. This doesn't mean that you will never receive any spam in your mailbox, but it will be reduced by 30 percent to 90+ percent. Why the large difference? This is because you get to select just how aggressive you want to be in your spam filtering. This is done by having your own private message center that you access using a web browser to control your Postini settings.

What is the Postini Message Center?

The Postini Message Center is where the any subscriber can control their spam filtering for their E-Mail address. The Message Center provides the following settings:
Where viruses detected are held
Where any spam captured is held for review
Where you can turn on or off your spam filtering
Where you can change your spam filtering setting
Where you can add or delete an e-mail address to the approved senders list.

All messages (either spam or detected virus) are held in the Postini Message Center for up to14 days and then are automatically removed from the Postini Message Center server. Any message held in the Message Center can be reviewed and delivered to your mail box. This gives you give you the option of delivering a message that you may have wanted to get but that and was detected as spam.

Is this mail private or what? Who is looking at it?

All the e-mail quarantined by Postini is completely private. There are no human beings looking at the mail. It is all scanned by computers. Postini and Internet Hotline are committed to honoring the privacy of our Clients. By publishing our Privacy Statement, we allow users to make informed consent to participate in Postini service offerings. Postini and your service provider set strict security policies and access rights to protect against loss, misuse, and alteration of messages stored on Postini servers. How do I subscribe to Postini?

It a simple process, just click the link below and you will be taken to a secure web page. At his page you fill out a form, enter your payment information, and click submit. Then you will be taken to a page for inputting your list of E-Mail address to be protected. This list will be submitted to IHOT support. Support at IHOT will create your Postini accounts. This process can take up to 24 hours. As each Postini account is created, each e-mail address will receive a welcome e-mail with login information to the Postini Message Center.
